Confirmation Classes: Are you interested in exploring your understanding of faith: Who is God for you? Why is living a Christian lifestyle important? How does being part of a supportive faith community make your life better? Why should you be concerned about the wellbeing of other people? If these or any other faith questions interest you, you are invited to contact Mervin Gallant at the church 403-782-3148 or by email at st_amerv@telus.net . The classes will take the format of two weekend events with several field trips in between to explore a variety of worship, prayer and mission options for expressing our faith. Please let Mervin know by the end of January if you are interested.

Covenanting Service- Please gather at 2pm on Sunday, February 23 to celebrate the covenanting service between Gaetz Memorial United Church, Rev. Liz Richards, Rev. James Strachan, and Red Deer Presbytery. The church address is 4758 Ross Street. A covenanting service is a unique service which celebrates a new ministry with music, preaching, mutual commitment, the presentation of symbols and lively hope.

18 to 30 something: If you are a young adult over 18 years of age, you are invited to gather with other young adults over coffee to explore what options you would like to see for programming inside or outside the church with other young adults. What options might we offer to help build a supportive community? How might gathering be both fun and at the same time offer a depth that other groups might lack? The possibilities are wide open. If you would be interested in taking part in such a group, contact Mervin Gallant at the church 403-782-3148 or by email at st_amerv@telus.net by the end of the month.

From Reel to Real: 7pm on Sunday, January 16 we will be showing and discussing the documentary film Food, Inc. - You'll Never Look at Dinner the Same Way Again. The film "lifts the veil on the food industry, exposing how our food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. Food, Inc. reveals surprising - and often shocking truths - about what we eat, how it's produced and who we have become as a society." The film is provocative, and the discussion following should be vigorous. The food system is a subject of enormous public importance so please invite your friends and colleagues.
